Classes begin again soon and I must admit that I am quite keen for this to be so. I've only returned this week from my duties elsewhere. It seems as if with the absence of classes there is not quite enough for others to concentrate upon. Tis blessed then that the breaks between one term and the next are reasonably short.
My coursework this term is even more stringent than the last and I can hope that the levels of those courses prevent those who are uninterested in the classes themselves to occupy them and the attention of the class thus. Preparing for graduate school and beginning work on my senior thesis shall hopefully keep me quite occupied. |

The astounding lack of drive, desire to learn and interest within the student body is exceptionally vexing. To find my classes filled with those who are studying a subject that will be the focus of the rest of their lives and yet be surrounded by those who have not the slightest interest in the subject matter is most disagreeable. Literature majors who do not enjoy reading, English majors without the slightest clue how to form a single, properly structured sentence and Philosophy majors who do not believe we should read Dante Alighieri or Johann von Goethe because their works do not properly reflect what 'the Bible says' are my peers. It is nearly enough to make one weep. |
